3G
A term referring to the "3rd generation" of digital wireless phones. A proposed system that would allow high-speed data transfers as well as voice communications. The US firm Qualcomm and the Swedish Ericsson have been in a legal squabble over 3G technical standards and alleged patent infringements since 1996.
